HAPPY BIRTHDAY WANYEE
So school ended at 11.40 and I have photo taking at 3 zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz reading this book about ancient Chinese philosophy and came across the quote "a white horse is not a horse" so I asked the two friends from china what they interpret it as. The guy did not understand and helped me google while the girl looked at the googled results and translated it for me. But I still didn't get it. I think this 白馬非馬 kind of philosophy can be interpreted from different levels of meanings. Like Wikipedia said a whole lot of chunk no layman can understand yea.
So this quite reminds me of what my good friend Alicia lim and I always talk about
I was just chattingm with Yunman on the phone just now and she passed the phone to Alicia and Wah I really miss her man. Her gruff voice and very joking tone sighh. Anyway, we used to say 黑馬也是馬 and this brings me to think if this two quotes are related. Well, obviously they are since they are talking about colours of horses. The first horse theory was mentioned in ancient china and the second one was probably mentioned in modern day china.
A white horse ain't a horse.
I think I have a meaning liao.
Ok so I'm listening to may day's 入陣曲 and it's a song with political meanings so that means it's not purely a song but a song with political meanings. And if I purely want to listen to a song, I shouldn't listen to 入陣曲 because it's a political song. Very nitty gritty.
And there came the second theory- deng xiao ping's coloured animal theory.
(He used cat but my friends and I prefer using horses)
And his meaning was no matter what kind of cat you are, you are a good cat as long as you can catch a mouse.
In my mayday song context, I'll say something like
Any song is a good song.
So I guess we can see the progression in China's philosophy in terms of how they view the same matter. Once upon a time, they want everything to be specific. Like "it's not a horse, it is a white horse!!!"
And now they are just like," black horse, white horse, they are all horses"
Yeah.
